What is AI ?

AI builds smart machines that are capable of learning from experience, adjust to new inputs, and perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. The term came into existence in 1956, but only recently has it gained much popularity. All this is possible due to a surge in data volumes, ultra-modern algorithms, and refinements in computing power and storage.

- AI is implemented for performing frequent, computerized, and high-volume tasks. The output is always reliable and the machine works tirelessly. Still, human beings are indispensable for the system setup and for taking the right information from the client.

- The major task of AI is to add intelligence to the product. AI capabilities have already improved some of the products such as Siri, a newly added feature to the new generation of Apple products. To improve the technologies further, conversational platforms, automation, smart machines, and bots are combined with a large amount of data. For investment analysis, many upgrades have taken place at home and in the workplace ranging from smart cams and security intelligence.

- AI adjusts to progressive learning algorithms to make the data do programming. The task of AI is to search structure and regularities in data so that algorithms can obtain skills. It is similar to the way in which an algorithm teaches itself to play chess, or it can learn what product to recommend next online. Therefore, these models adapt themselves when provided with new data.

- AI uses neural networks to analyze deeper data. Earlier it used to be impossible to build a fraud detection system using hidden layers. But now everything has changed due to the availability of big data and amazing computer power. Generally, a lot of data is needed to train deep learning models.

- Deep neural networks help AI in attaining phenomenal accuracy. To illustrate, the interaction with Alexa and Google is entirely based on deep learning. The accuracy level improves as the usage increases. Nowadays, the medical field implements AI techniques from deep learning and object recognition to pinpoint cancer on medical images with improved accuracy.

- AI is able to extract the most out of data. The data is an asset as the algorithms are self-learning. All the answers are already there in the data, one just has to apply AI to search them. Thus the role of data is most crucial. The company with the best data always stays ahead, even if the same technique is applied by other competitions.

Examples of Artificial Intelligence you are using in your daily life:

Smart Cars:
Today, one of the prominent displays of AI technology is visible through smart cars and drones. A few years back it was a dream to design automatic cars, but nowadays companies like Tesla have made it possible and there are a number of semi-automatic cars on the roads.

Many companies such as Amazon and Walmart are spending hugely on drone delivery programs. It is no longer a far-fetched program as the militaries all over the world have already implemented drone programs. More than 500,000 Tesla cars are alone running in the US and the number is about to increase exponentially. With the number of autonomous cars and drones flying above us, it is clear that AI is impacting our lives hugely.

Smart Home Devices:
Today people are voluntarily letting artificial intelligence in houses. The smart home devices that we use today apply artificial intelligence to understand our behavior and thus adjust the settings to make the experience as seamless as possible for us. There are many smart voice assistants that are used to control smart home devices, and these are the major examples of AI impacting our lives.

Some of the examples from our daily lives include smart thermostats which can adjust the temperature based on preferences. Then there are smart lights that can change the intensity and color of lights based on time and much more. In a few decades, the main interactions with the home devices will be through AI only.

Security and Surveillance:
AI is playing a big part in the AI surveillance system. For humans it is impossible to monitor multiple monitors with feeds from hundreds or thousands of cameras at the same time. Thus AI is perfect in this sense. The technologies such as object recognition and facial recognition are getting better each day, so it won't be long enough when security cameras are monitored by AI and not by humans.
